Reeds grow along riverbanks, protecting against erosion, purifying water, and providing shelter and food for other life forms. This plant has thin, cylindrical stems and elongated leaves, its raw material is used in traditional crafts.
Welcome Rain rescues the cylindrical shape of river reeds and materializes them an umbrella stand with a welcoming spirit, the arrival of rain as a celebration of the water element.
This object is made in two materials, Breccia St. António limestone, in the Lusitania Basin, in the Estremenho limestone massif, found only in the central region of Portugal, and also in Nero Marquina marble, which originates from the Basque Region of Marquina, in Northern Spain, and a metallic structure coated in a brass that symbolizes the shine of water when it is touched by the sun ́s rays and in a black version with a velvety touch, symbolizing night.
The celebration of the arrival of the rains
as a symbol of life,
renewal, and fertility of the land.
